Catherine was desperate to help Leila, and when I heard about her condition, I knew we had to work fast. I told her that if she was interested in giving my services a try, we needed to get started immediately with 4 consecutive sessions in 4 days. Catherine agreed and Leila and I set to work.
For the first time in my professional career, I felt momentarily shaken when I sensed Leila’s level of panic and pain. It took a minute to re-centre myself, but I did it quickly as I knew I couldn’t help her if I didn’t remain centred and calm. She was in deep distress and I understood why the vet had suggested putting her down.
Thankfully, Leila responded quickly to the therapy. After the first session, her pain was greatly reduced and she was able to sleep and eat; by the fourth, she was back to her former, perky self.
Catherine describes Leila’s return to health as a miracle, but it’s really not as mysterious as all that – Reiki helped her system rebalance and through that rebalancing, her symptoms fell away. She just showed me what she needed and I followed her lead.
I can’t think of a better way to start 2014 than having Leila as my first new client. She reminded me that there is nothing else I’d rather do and that there is something so humbling and beautiful about connecting with an animal. Happy New Year, Leila! May you have many more to come.
